The Girls’ choir “Liepaitės” of Vilnius choir singing school was founded as an independent artistic collective in 1994, when the girls’ choir studio of the National Trade Union Culture House, founded by Prof. Petras Vailionis and Liucija Palinauskaitė, in 1964 was transformed into a music school. The choir was led by Prof. Petras Vailionis, Assoc. Prof. Lina Dumbliauskaitė and from the year 1997 choir leader Jolita Vaitkevičienė.

14-17 years old schoolgirls who have finished 7 years of basic music school education sing in the girls’ choir. The choir specializes in academic singing. In its repertoire it has many choir compositions from various epochs created by foreign and Lithuanian composers as well as folk music arrangements. The choir has performed “Gloria” by A. Vivaldi, “Magnificat“ by Sh. Brixi, “Gloria“ by F. Poulenc, „Syrenes“ by C. Debussy, A. Vivaldi „Juditha triumphans",together with S. Sondeckis, G. Rinkevičius, M. Staškus, M. Jauniškis and the following orchestras: Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, LVSO, Kaunas Chamber Orchestra, Baroque Opera Orchestra. Participated in performing the 3rd symphony of G. Mahler with LNSO, conductor J. Domarkas, "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage" by L. W. Beethowen, „In Principio” by A. Pärt with Estonian Chamber Orchestra , Latvian TV Chamber Choir, conductor T. Kaljuste. The choir took part in many national and foreign artistic projects and festivals. The girls have sung in Belarus, Belgium, Czech Republic, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Ukraine, Germany and Spain.

The major dates of the choir activity:

1998 and 2003 – Grand Prix in the International Children and Youth Choir Festival „Dainų Versmė” in Vilnius.

2001 – Festival „Thuringian Bach Weeks” in Germany.

2003 – Gold diploma in the International Johannes Brahms Choir Contest in Germany.

2004 – Golden Cup in the International Choir Contest „Praga Cantat” in the Czech Republic.

2004, 2008 – Grand Prix in the National Children and Youth Choir Contest „Mes Lietuvos vaikai”.

2004 – The choir represented Lithuania in the new members’ accession to the European Union celebrations in Dublin (Ireland).

2005 – The silver award in the International Choir Contest in Celje (Slovenia).

2006 – The name of laureate in the International Children Music Festival “Paint the World with Sounds” in Saint Petersburg.

2007 – Second place and a special diploma in the International S. Šimkus Choir Contest.

2008 – The choir organized a series of concerts in the „Essentia Baltica” (the cultural Baltic States year in Germany) events.

2009- Grand Prix in the National TV Choir Contest „Lietuvos balsai“.

2010- Second place in the International Choir Contest Cantonigros, Spain.

2010- 3rd place in the International Choir ContestTolosa, Spain.

2012- Golden Diploma in the International „Musica Religiosa“Choir Contest,Kaunas

2014-Grand Prix in the National TV Choir Contest „Lietuvos balsai“.

2014- represent Lithuania in „Choir Eurovision“ in Vienna

2015 – International Music Festival „Lago di Garda“ in Italy

2016 – opening concert at ,, European Association for Music in Schools‘‘ conference

2016 – Symphony No. 5 Songs of Plains“ for children choir and strings of J. Juzeliūnas, performed with Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra

2016 – International choir festival „Deutsches chorfest“ in Germany

2017 – represented Lithuania at International book fair musical program in Leipzig

2017 – performed G.Walker and O.Gjeil peaces with Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra

2018 – opera „Benedict and giraffe“ of Laimis Vilkončius, conductor R.Šumila.

Girls represented Lithuania and the school in the „Week of J. S. Bach“ in Erfurt, „Essentia Baltica“ in Germany, several events of new members of European Union in Dublin and had a concert of Lithuania Independence Day in European Parliament (Brussels). Lithuanian Folk Culture Centre awarded girls choir with „Golden Bird“ for rich concert activities.
